Description
This dessert has Lombard origins, and legend has it that it was invented by a monk from the Certosa di Pavia. The monk offered it to his fellow friars, who, struck by the deliciousness of the cake, named it “TORTA PARADISO” (“Paradise Cake”). In 1878, pastry chef Enrico Vigoni, founder of the pastry shop that still bears his name in the center of Pavia and is still run by his descendants, was invited by Marquis Cusani Visconti to codify the recipe for the “TORTA PARADISO”, making it unique and famous throughout Italy and Europe.
