Description
The origins of these cookies date back to the 16th century. The word “cantuccino,” derived from “canto,” means “corner”—a small, crunchy piece.
As early as the late 17th century, the ACCADEMIA DELLA CRUSCA referred to it as “Cantuccio,” a cookie made in slices from fine flour, sugar, and egg whites. It wasn’t until the late 19th century that almonds and whole eggs were added.
